The 5 Best Food Blogs You Need to Follow Today

The secret is out…I love food.  I will never be the most innovative cook, but I love to read others’ ideas on cooking.  Following a variety of food bloggers gives me ideas for healthy dinners, easy snacks, and sinful desserts.  While my husband will remain the cook and baker for the family, I can still be the idea generator.  Here are the 5 best food blogs you should be following!

1.  Well Plated 

Erin at Well Plated is “fearlessly dedicated to making healthy food taste incredible” which is right up my ally!  I love to eat healthy, and I love food.  She has so many great recipes, and she even offers a free e-cookbook!  Follow her on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest to stay up to date on all her great recipes!  I wrote a blog post about our favorite Well Plated recipe, Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins.

2.  Life in the Lofthouse

Holly Lofthouse provides so many delicious recipes.  She is a busy mom too and includes some great menu planning ideas that you should check out weekly at Menu Plan Monday! Do you need creative dessert ideas?  Check out Butterfinger Pie…need I say more?!?

3.  100 Days of Real Food

Lisa Leake gives amazing recipes, from snacks that your kiddo will love to quick and easy weeknight meals.  A friend let me borrow her book (which I have yet to return, sorry!).  This book is my new favorite cookbook and go-to for healthy recipes.  You can grab a copy of her book here and have it at your house in 2 days!  A few of her recipes have become staples, including my modified version of snack bars that I included in my post Tips and Hacks for Painless Food Prep.

 4.  Against All Grain

Danielle Walker’s story of eating grain free is extra clean eating.  I cannot say that I eat this clean all the time (see reference above to Butterfinger Pie), but I love the ideas.  If you choose a Paleo diet, eat dairy free, or have family food allergies and sensitivities, then she is your woman!  She has a few cookbooks that you can check out here.  Danielle is on a mission to overcome debilitating digestive disorders for her family, and she has been featured in magazines and on TV where she talks about her journey.

5.  Dinner at the Zoo

Sara is a busy mom who turned her love of food into a mission to prepare “healthy and delicious meals for my daughters”.  She traded in classes at a culinary academy and long drives to pick up specialty ingredients for dealing with a couple of picky eaters (can I get an “amen”).  Most of us can relate to the concept of mealtime at a zoo, so her website name is particularly mom-friendly.  Check out her recipes (and birthday party ideas) to feed your picky eater!
